Morris county, n.J. man arraigned for distribution images of child sexual abuse over internet

Defendant Possessed More Than 46,000 Images of Child Pornography
Including 1,000 Images of Infants and Toddlers
NEWARK, N.J. – A Morris County, N.J., man was arraigned by Judge William H. Walls today for possessing and distributing over the Internet images of child sexual abuse, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.
Khalil Survey, 39, of Lake Hiawatha, N.J., was previously arrested on a Criminal Complaint and later charged by Indictment with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of distributing child pornography.
According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court:
Special agents of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and other law enforcement executed a search warrant at Survey’s home on Aug. 4, 2011, and seized a computer, an iPhone, and several electronic storage devices that contained images and videos of alleged child pornography. In total, the devices included 46,353 images of child sexual abuse, including 983 images involving infants or toddlers, and 783 images involving sadomasochistic abuse. On the defendant’s iPhone were “screen captures” of him downloading what appeared to be images of child pornography on a peer-to-peer (“P2P”) network on a desktop computer. Survey, who is unemployed, is a student at Morris County Community College.
On the distribution count, Survey faces a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
U.S. Attorney Fishman credited special agents of ICE-HSI, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Andrew M. McLees in Newark, with the investigation leading to the Indictment.
